Rolfing® is a system of fascial tissue manipulation and body education focused on structural alignment and balanced movements. It was developed in 1950 by Ida Rolf Ph.D. and taught to a larger audience in Boulder, Colorado starting in 1970.

“Engaging the clients with body awareness and movement...I teach clients to relax and to enquire deeply within, support movement repatterning ...empowerin them to be their own healer.”

Rolfing structural integration works on the complex of connective tissues to release, realign, and balance the whole body, thus potentially resolving discomfort, reducing compensations, and alleviating pain. The practitioner uses their hands, knuckles, and elbows on specific body areas, focusing on the connective tissue to release tension and tightness.

The main idea that organizes this fantastic form of bodywork is when a body is out of alignment with gravity it can not function properly. This can lead to structural dysfunction, reduce quality of life, and increase the possibility of pain. When we are in alignment with the Earth’s gravitational field the human body operates better. The body is so plastic that its alignment can be brought into better harmony with gravity at practically any time of life through Rolfing.
